Enugu State Police Command Rescues Kidnap Victim and Arrests Two Suspects
Enugu, Nigeria – The Police Command in Enugu State has made a major breakthrough in its fight against kidnapping, as it successfully rescued a male kidnap victim and apprehended two suspected kidnappers. The victim’s identity is being withheld for security reasons.
According to the Command’s spokesman, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the operation was carried out on the outskirts of Enugu metropolis on the evening of August 20. Led by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olasoji Akinbayo, the police operatives from the NPF Special Forces, Awkunanaw Police Division, and the tactical teams of the Command launched a successful operation at Centenary Layout along Enugu/Port-Harcourt Expressway, following a distress call.
During the operation, the police recovered the victim’s black-coloured Lexus 350 Jeep, as well as one locally made revolver gun loaded with four cartridges and another locally fabricated pistol belonging to the criminals. Additionally, one of the miscreants, known as “Baron,” was neutralized on the spot during a gunfight, while the remaining members of the gang escaped with gunshot wounds of varying severity.
Following further investigation and a relentless manhunt, the police discovered the lifeless body of the second neutralized hoodlum, identified as Chukwunonso, a.k.a. “Nolly,” during the morning hours of August 21 in a forest at the location of the gun duel. Notably, both criminals were already on the watch list of the Enugu State Police Command.
The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kanayo Uzuegbu, commended the swift response and efficiency displayed by the police operatives. He attributed the operational success to the newly introduced crime-fighting strategies and assured the public that no breathing space would be given to unrepentant criminals in the state.
The Enugu State Police Command has made significant strides in recent months in combating crime, particularly kidnapping, and continues to reinforce its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents.
