BREAKING NEWS: Nollywood Actor Saint Obi Laid to Rest with Tears and Tributes

In a poignant ceremony, the remains of beloved Nollywood actor, Saint Obi, have been laid to rest in his hometown of Umuezealaeze, Alaenyi Ogwa in Imo State. The interment comes three months after his death at the age of 57. Saint Obi, known for his remarkable roles in numerous films such as Candle Light, State of Emergency, and Last Party, passed away on May 7 after a long battle with illness.

As a tribute to his contributions to the Nigerian film industry, several notable personalities, including actor and director Andy Chukwu, politician and actor Bob Manuel-Udokwu, and journalist Ichie Azuh Arinze, attended the burial ceremony.

The entertainment industry celebrates the 60th birthday of veteran stage and screen actor, comedian, and theatre lecturer Afeez Oyetoro, popularly known as Saka. Colleagues, fans, and well-wishers have taken to social media platforms to shower the talented actor with warm wishes and compliments. Oyetoro, known for his comic prowess, has brought joy to audiences through his remarkable performances on stage and in movies. He currently lectures at the Department of Theatre Arts at the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education in Lagos State.

Lagos International Film Festival Introduces Special Award for Student Filmmakers

The upcoming 2023 edition of the Lagos International Film Festival, also known as ‘LIFF,’ will feature a special award for film students in tertiary institutions. The festival, set to take place from August 30 to September 2, will showcase a range of films, including those made by students. Festival Director Daisy Madu Chikwendu revealed that the Best Student Film category will recognize outstanding work produced by film departments or individuals. Additionally, the festival will include panel discussions, film screenings, and exhibitions of filmmaking software and equipment. Four movies, including ‘Dance With Me’ by Steph Nora Okere and ‘Kamsi’ by Uzo Okpechi, will be showcased as part of the festival’s ‘Red Carpet Movies’ section.
