A pharmacist has dragged Nigerians who cannot speak their native language as adults.
He posted the tweet on his account, @MrMekzy, on the microblogging platform, X, where he is an influencer.
The pharmacist claims that it is weird that grown adults who were born and raised in Nigeria cannot speak their native language.
The man who speaks three Nigerian languages, Igbo, Hausa and Efik blamed adults who claimed they were not taught.
According to him, it is a decision and most people who claim their parents did not teach them weren’t just interested in learning.
In his words;
“I find it really weird that adults, born and raised in Nigeria cannot speak their language. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t be able to speak your language as an adult. It’s nothing to be proud of tbh.”
See post below…
@FynBoyAjebutter penned: “Some people see it as a flex that they are unable to speak their language. Doesn’t make any sense. If you can’t speak your language and you live in Nigeria then head de pain you. But then most times the parents encourage it.”
@FunmiKolz wrote: “It’s not their fault their can’t speak. My parents aren’t same tribe.”
@abazwhyllzz said: “It’s not a must to know how to speak your language sha. After all they’re not even using it in schools or churches or while carrying out transactions sef”
@Chimzybella agreed: “Very weird and it’s really bad and shameful.????”

That is becoming a big problem in our society today, because we take English language seriously than our own language, all in the name that i want my child to speak good English.
We can all speak our mother tongue very well. In fact you can hardly find someone in Nigeria, who is not multilingual.
It is a shame that we don’t speak our own native languages or our mother tongue as adults because we are born and raised in Nigeria, but some among rich educatied people warn their children that they must not speak their own language and required that they must speak English language because all native languages are only for poor villagers, illiterates. Who blames? Naive languages make children fail in English paper. That is what many people refuse to learn naive languages at both home and at school.
You this life is another one all together, you know why some people check that this language can take me Globally,so they prefair English.
Well this is where the NEGLIGENCE of some PARENTS have brought us to.CHARITY they say begins at HOME

Accepted but the fact is whether you can speak your natives language or not I don’t see any crime there only if you people are trying to put negative impact to government
That a serious issue that calls for national attention. Most Nigerians today cannot communicate on their mother tongue
This I can say is traceable to the ignorance and lackadaisical attitude of today’s parents.
