BREAKING NEWS: Man Kills Father Over Debt Dispute
In a shocking incident, a 38-year-old man identified as Mathew Ifeanyi has been arrested for allegedly killing his elderly father over a debt of N70,000. The gruesome incident took place on Tuesday, August 29, at 11 Ibikunle Street, Diamond Estate, along Olorunda Area, Ntabo, Ijoko in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area.
The So-Safe Corps, a local security agency in Ogun State, swiftly responded to the distress call and apprehended the suspect. Commander Soji Ganzallo reported that they received information from Superintendent Alabi Gafar, Divisional Officer of the Corps at Alade/Atago/Ntabo Divisional Command, about a middle-aged man attacking his biological father with a machete.
Upon their arrival at the scene, the patrol team found the victim, Anthony Nnadike, 100 years old, in critical condition. He was immediately rushed to the nearest general hospital for treatment but tragically succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect, who had initially resisted arrest, was eventually captured and questioned about his motive. During the preliminary investigation, Ganzallo revealed that Ifeanyi confessed that the alleged debt dispute with his father, which began on July 22, 2022, was the underlying reason for his violent actions.
In accordance with proper procedure, the suspect has been transferred to the Sango Divisional Police Headquarters for further investigation. Authorities are considering prosecuting him for the heinous crime he has committed, subject to the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
